WALA Scholarship Information

Thank you for your interest in the Washington Association of Learning Alternatives Secondary Scholarship. Staff and students should be informed and encouraged to apply for scholarship opportunities available through the WALA organization. WALA provides several scholarships each year to students who complete the scholarship application form with their teacher or counselor. Students earn scholarships based on their application and the amount of money raised at our annual conference through the silent and live auctions. I strongly encourage WALA members to get involved in sponsoring our students through the purchase of auction items throughout the conference on Thursday.
It is the responsibility of the applicant and teacher to check the WALA website to ensure their school is a WALA member before submission of their application. You may also call Brad Sprague at 509-690-1366 for more information. All scholarship awards are paid directly to the student’s account at their post-secondary institution or training facility. Once you are awarded a scholarship, the funds must be activated within two years. There is a lifetime limit of one award per student.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be in a position to graduate during the current school year, or have graduated within the past two calendar years from a WALA member secondary school or program with a high school diploma.
- Be currently enrolled in a WALA member school or program and good standing, or have been enrolled and successfully met the exit criteria of the program within the past two years.
- The sponsoring school MUST be a WALA member at the time of the application. School membership status may be verified by calling Brad Sprague, at 509-690-1366.
- Intend to apply, have applied to, or have been accepted for enrollment at any institution or program of post-secondary education or training.
